New computing clusters in CERIT-SC center
CERIT-SC Centre computing capacity was extended with 2048 CPUs in two clusters:
- Cluster zapat.cerit-sc.cz - 112 nodes (1792 CPUs), configuration of each node:
- 2x 8-core Intel E5-2670 2.6GHz
- 128 GB RAM
- 2x 600 GB (scratch)
- 471 points in the SPECfp2006 base rate benchmark (29 points per core)
- Cluster zigur.cerit-sc.cz - 32 nodes (256 CPUs), configuration of each node:
- 2x 4-core Intel E5-2643 3.3GHz
- 128 GB RAM
- 2x 600 GB (scratch)
- 237 points in the SPECfp2006 base rate benchmark (41 points per core)
Both clusters are located in Jihlava. Details on the hardware can be found at http://www.cerit-sc.cz/en/Hardware/.
Currently, the capacity of the local shared filesystem (/home) is very limited (including restrictive quotas). Full featured /home in Jihlava will be available in approx. one month. Larger data amounts should be stored in the /storage filesystems, which are accessible at the new clusters as well.
The clusters can be accessed via the conventional job submission through Torque batch system (wagap.cerit-sc.cz server). During the testing period the cluster will be available for shorter (up to 1 week) jobs only. Specific steps required to run a job can be found at
http://www.cerit-sc.cz/en/docs/.
Some nodes will be included in the MetaCloud for submission of user-provided images of any operating system, etc. The assignment of nodes to Torque and MetaCloud will change eventually according to evolving needs.
