CERIT-SC hierachical storage available

CERIT-SC hierarchical storage (HSM) is directly accessible from CERIT-SC clusters (zewura, zegox, zigur, zapat, zuphux, and ungu). The storage is mounted under /storage/brno4-cerit-hsm/home and is currently operated in pilot mode.

The storage is hierarchical, it means that the system automatically moves less used data onto slower tiers, in this case, onto disks that can be switched off (MAID). The data is still available for the user in the file system. On the other hand, it is necessary to keep in mind that access to data that hasn't been used for a long time may be slower (requiring the disks to spin up).

If data is stored into a folder named "Archive", the data (including subfolders of Archive) will be stored directly onto MAID.

The main and preferred purpose of this storage facility is mid-term archiving, using it for live data is also possible.
