About MetaCentrum

Powering Czech Science

The MetaCentrum project was founded in 1996 and has since provided free access to massive computing and storage capacities for the scientific community—from complex simulations to big data analysis.

  • Performance: Tens of thousands of CPU cores and high-end GPU accelerators for the most demanding scientific calculations.

  • Storage: Interconnected storage capacity for long-term archiving, backup, and data sharing via CESNET Data Storage.

  • Software: A wide spectrum of scientific software and user-friendly graphical interfaces.

  • Integration: We are part of the European EGI network and the Czech e-infrastructure e-INFRA CZ.

What We Offer

  • MetaCentrum Grid: A traditional environment for batch computing. Includes graphical environments such as OnDemand and Galaxy.

  • MetaCentrum Cloud: Flexible virtual machines that you can configure according to your specific needs.

  • Kubernetes & Rancher: A container platform based on the Kubernetes orchestrator and Docker container images. Featuring the intuitive Rancher user interface and a wide range of pre-prepared applications.

  • AI & LLM Modules: Providing open-source Large Language Models (LLMs) within the secure environment of our own infrastructure, with the option of API integration.

How to Get Involved

Any employee or student of an academic institution in the Czech Republic can become a user.

  • Free of Charge: Membership is free—the only "currency" is an acknowledgement of MetaCentrum in your publications.

  • Simplicity: One application, one password, unlimited possibilities.

  • Priority: Resource owners have priority on their own machines, but the remaining capacity is shared with the entire community.

We are part of the e-INFRA CZ e-infrastructure

We are part of the e-INFRA CZ e-infrastructure for research and development in the Czech Republic, which represents a transparent environment providing complex capacities and resources for the transmission, storage, and processing of scientific data to all entities engaged in research and development, regardless of the industry they work within. As such, it constitutes a communication, information, storage, and computing platform for research and development at the national and international levels and provides an extensive and comprehensive portfolio of ICT services, without which modern research and development cannot be realized.

CESNET, CERIT-SC, and IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center are the three e-infrastructures that constitute the national e-INFRA CZ research infrastructure.
