New HW in MetaCentrum

Dear users,

we would like to introduce a new SMP cluster, which is available for testing in a new experimental environment, accessible from the dedicated frontend tarkil.grid.cesnet.cz:

SMP cluster meduseld.grid.cesnet.cz, 6 nodes (336 CPUs), each of them with the following specification:

• CPU: 4x 14-core Intel Xeon E7-4830 v4 (2.00GHz)
• RAM: 512 GB
• disk: 15 TB HDD, 480GB SSD
• network: Ethernet 10Gbit/s, Infiniband 40Gbit/s
• property: CESNET
• home: /storage/brno2/

The cluster can be accessed via the experimental environment with PBS Pro (arien-pro.ics.muni.cz server) in short queues (temporary up to 24 hours). For complete list of available HW in MetaCentrum see http://metavo.metacentrum.cz/pbsmon2/hardware

Using the PBS Pro in MetaCentrum experimental environment:

• PBS Pro server: arien-pro.ics.muni.cz (server is not directly accessible)
  
• Dedicated frontend: tarkil.grid.cesnet.cz
  
• Experimental environment supports temporarily only short jobs with max 2 days walltime
• Please note, PBS Pro environment is not supported at that moment in PBSmon web application, we work on integration. Please use qstat on frontend in the meantime.
• qsub syntax (Request for job with two processors on each of 3 chunks (nodes), 1 GB of RAM, 1 GB of local scratch, 1 hour walltime, 1 licence for Matlab):

  • qsub -l select=3:ncpus=2:mem=1gb:scratch_local=1gb -l walltime=1:00:00 -l matlab=1 skript.sh
