OS upgrade on the Zuphux frontend (Centos 7.3) + PBS Pro setting as the default environment in CERIT-SC

CERIT-SC finishes with the transfer of conventional computing machines into the new PBS Pro environment (@wagap-pro).

***FRONTEND ZUPHUX UPGRADE***

On May 11th, server zuphux will be restarted to a new OS version (Centos 7.3).

At the same time, the planning system in the Torque environment (@wagap) will no longer accept new jobs. Existing jobs will be counted on the remaining nodes. The remaining computational nodes in the Torque environment will be gradually converted to PBS Pro. Machines currently available in a PBS Pro environment are labeled by "Pro" in the PBSMon application https://metavo.metacentrum.cz/pbsmon2/nodes/physical .

Frontend zuphux.cerit-sc.cz will be set by default to PBSPro (@wagap-pro) environment. You may need to activate the old Torque @wagap environment for qstat or similar operations, in such case type the following command after loging on the frontend:

zuphux$ module add torque-client ... set Torque environment

and back

zuphux$ module rm torque-client ... return PBSPro environment

Note: Main difference of the PBS Pro:

New select syntax:

qsub -q uv -l select=1:ncpus=48:mem=20gb:scratch_local=20gb -l walltime=1:00:00 skript.sh

Always specify
- walltime in [hh:mm:ss] format
- size and type of the scratch <scratch_local|scratch_ssd|scratch_shared>
