The first MetaCentrum webinar attracted a record 300 participants!
On June 23, the first episode of a new series of practical webinars took place, aimed at introducing users to the capabilities of the MetaCentrum national computing infrastructure.
The webinar was hosted by Jiří Vorel from MetaCentrum's user support. There was extraordinary interest in the event, with a record-breaking 300 participants attending the webinar.
During the session, both traditional command-line job submission approaches and user-friendly graphical interfaces running directly in the browser were introduced, such as the Open OnDemand and Jupyter Notebooks platforms, or the Galaxy bioinformatics platform.
Participants learned how to efficiently allocate computing resources, how to use OpenStack and Kubernetes cloud environments, or how to securely store and archive their valuable scientific data on CESNET's S3 object storage.
Activities of CERIT-SC related to the provision of large language models were also mentioned, as well as specialized web tools such as Foldify for protein structure prediction using AlphaFold or Alphafind tools.
For all those who could not attend, or who wish to go through the topics covered again, the following materials are now available on the event page:
- Webinar presentation containing useful links and overviews.
- Supplementary materials on GitHub, where you can find specific commands, scripts, and guides for practical demonstrations from the webinar that you can try out for yourself.
- Recording of the entire webinar, which is now also provided with English subtitles.
What are we preparing next?
The second webinar focused exclusively on AI assistants and large language models will take place as early as July 20. Registration for the webinar starts next week.
From September 30 to October 1, the two-day CESNET Conference will take place in Prague, the second day of which will be dedicated to a full-day MetaCentrum user seminar. You can register for the event now, as the number of seats is limited.
Stay tuned to our events page.
We look forward to meeting you next time!
